Parish Councillors

  • Dr. Peter Twitchett (Chairman) 01491 671373

    Peter was co-opted onto the Council in January 2007, and elected Chairman the following May. He has lived in Basildon since 1984 and is a Village Hall Trustee and Committee member. He is retired after over 35 years working in forensic science. His other interests include travelling, especially in mountainous areas of the world, skiing and sailing. He also works as a volunteer for the Witness Service, a part of Victim Support, which helps people who have to give evidence in Court.

  • Mrs. Pauline Hall 01491 671007

    Pauline is a freelance graphic designer and has been a Parish Councillor since the elections of May 2000. Along with husband Phil, Pauline moved to the village in May 1994 and soon became involved in village life. In 1997 she joined the Village Hall Management Committee and, as one of the fundraising team, helped raise the money to build the new Village Hall. Today she is one of the Trustees of BVHRG (Basildon Village Hall & Recreation Ground). A very keen tennis player, Pauline is also Secretary of the village tennis club.

  • Mr. Arthur Harrison 01491 671700

    Arthur is a retired Policeman from County Durham and moved to Basildon in 1995. He was co-opted onto the Parish Council in 2004. He has responsibility for Public Rights of Way within the Parish. He is a keen walker and fisherman and is an Instructor/Assessor for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme at the Adventure Dolphin Centre, Pangbourne.

  • Mrs. Natalie Weekes 01491 672321

    Nathalie was co-opted onto the Council in 2005. She is involved in the Rights of Way group, provides feedback on the views of residents in Lower Basildon and has carried out a variety of tasks since joining the Parish Council. She has lived in the village since 2002, is married and has worked in licensed retail, financial services and currently as an Assessments Manager for an Awarding Body. She is an ex-potholer but now enjoys mountain biking, pilates, walking and raising her daughter.

  • Mr. Jeremy OBrien 01491 671849

    Jeremy (also known as Paddy) moved to Upper Basildon in 2006 with his partner Kathryn and joined the Parish Council in May 2007. With a background in flight simulation, he now works as a software engineer for the computer games company, Electronic Arts. He is a keen cyclist and runner as well as enjoying gardening and sailing in his spare time.

  • Ms. Natasha Higman 01491 671149

    Natasha joined the council in May 2007. She is a Chartered Certified Accountant, who no longer works in Finance, instead works in Operations at Prudential in Reading. In her spare time she jumps out of aeroplanes.

  • Mr. Brian Groom 01491 672355

    Brian was co-opted to the Council in May 2006. He and his wife Gloria moved to Basildon in 2002 from Burghfield Bridge. Brian qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1960 and then as a College Lecturer in 1996. He now works as a Management Consultant and occasionally lectures on Taxation and Management. Brian and Gloria like to travel the world whenever possible: they are both philatelists. Whenever the chance arises they like to enjoy live Jazz, as well as Dining Out - preferably both together!

  • Mr. Andrew Renshaw 01491 671838

    Andrew joined the Parish Council in May 2007. He has worked for IBM in their Financial Services Sector for nearly 20 years. In his spare time he is interested in small engineering projects, restoring old cars and renovating his house. Although he moved to the village in 2006, he anticipates living here with his wife, Alex, for a long time.

  • Mr. Ross Bentley-Davies

    Ross joined the council in April 2008. He and his wife moved to Basildon in 1996. He currently works in Newbury writing computer software. He is a governor of Little Heath School in Tilehurst. In his spare time he is a keen long-distance cyclist and an occasional runner.
