Come and run in the very first "Basildon Burn" on Saturday 28th March at 12pm. You have the choice of doing 1,2 or 3 laps of a 3Km course so whatever your level, there is a distance to suit you. Download an entry form here to save time on the day and read more detailed race instuctions here.
Starting at the Basildon Village Hall, it’s a pretty easy circuit, level or downhill most of the way, but ending with the hill leading from Hook End Lane up to the back of the recreation ground. This is a few hundred metres of seriously steep up-hill, off-road course. You may choose to walk this section but if attacked with vigour, it will test the fittest runners and will certainly bring heat to your thighs! Hence the event being called "The Basildon Burn".
This is the "pilot event". If successful, we will organise a larger race later in the year. Hence, you would really be helping us by coming along and running. There will of course be a variety of standards, so you must not feel that you need to be a keen runner to participate. In fact, feel free to walk the circuit if you'd prefer, but please come and take part! We need your support so even if you don't fancy the running, how about coming along to help marshall or cheer on the other runners.
To cover race administration and insurance, there will be a £5 registration fee - you can register and pay on the day. There will also be the option of making an additional £5 donation to our chosen charity, The National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease. Click Here if you would like to donate to NACC. Following the adult race, there will be a kid’s race on the recreation ground, a £1 registration will apply for kids on the day of the race. Please note that for insurance reasons, you must be 16 on the day of the race to run the adult course. To save time on the day, you can download an entry form here and bring it with you to the race.
You will be able to buy refreshments including soup and hot dogs after the race, which has been most kindly put on by the Basildon Horticultural Society. Please note that the Spring Fair begins at 2pm, all runners and supporters are most welcome!
If you would like to run or can help as a Marshall on the day, please e-mail Lydia Berks at lydia.berks@btinternet.com
We look forward to seeing you there.
